thywanderingfaerie told me, "Gahhh! I got scared of that gif on the left sidebar. :)) Good job. ;D Hey, I just want to ask what the title of this manga is. It's about that guy who just takes flesh off the faces of people and sews them together like a jigsaw puzzle and wears it in his own skin? I love your blog! <3"

It’s “Collector” by Tsutsui Tetsuya (mangaka of “Manhole.”) I can’t find the English translation anywhere, only a Russian one.

rtsabv told me, "whats a really good Japanese horror movie that has come out in the last year or so?"

I can’t really recommend any great ones in 2011. Some of them are not even subbed yet.

But there’s a movie I would like to share that came out in 2010 called “Shirome” or White Eyes. It’s another mockumentary from the director of Noroi: The Curse. The story is about a wish-granting god who curses people if the wish is deemed impure. Watch it here.

extorsionistasinescrupulos told me, "Hey :), could you tell me where can I see Yuureitou online? It's just that I've been looking for it, but I couldn't find it."

Unfortunately, I’m only posting some selected pages of the RAWs. You can find it here.

To give you a brief summary from MU, here it is:

In the 1950s, an old woman was brutally murdered on the face of a clock tower by her adopted daughter. Two years later, the clock tower is known as the ‘ghost tower’ and it is supposedly haunted. Through an unusual series of events, a young NEET man named Amano Taichi is attacked by someone or something in the same clock tower, and finds himself bound to the clock face to be killed in the same way as the old woman. Luckily for Amano, he doesn’t meet the same fate. He’s rescued by a mysterious person who claims his name is Tetsuo.

Tetsuo is searching for a treasure that is connected with the ghost tower, and he wants Taichi to be his partner. Taichi, whose life has mostly consisted of poverty, loneliness, and pornography, is enticed by the idea of gaining extreme wealth. He’s further convinced when a house fire leaves him without a home and depends on Tetsuo’s charity. The adventure is going to be very dangerous, since the same ‘enemies’ who attacked Taichi before seem certain to try something again! Not to mention, Taichi really knows very little about his new partner, including “his” true gender!

It was currently on-progress. I think there are only two volumes released in Japan so far. Some group was gonna scanlate it before but got cancelled. I hope my frequent posting of it would make them pick it up.

rimu told me, "do you know any scary doll manga?"

  • Hell O’ Dollies by Junji Ito
  • House of Puppets by Junji Ito
  • Doll: IC in a Doll by Mitsukazu Mihara - it’s more psychological/philosopical. You’ll feel sorry for the “dolls” =/
  • Another by Kiyohara Hiro
  • The Neighbor’s Doll (4th story of “Nemurenu Yoru no Monogatari”) by Various Artists
  • Ningyo Kyuutei Gakudan by Yuki Kaori
  • Mail by Housui Yamazaki - can’t remember which chapter but yeah, there’s definitely a creepy doll here.
  • The Smiling Doll by Sakurakoji Kanoko (third story of “Rakuen”)

This manga looks interesting too. I wish someone would scanlate it.

maggottyanne told me, "What do you think of Doubt? If you've read it, would you reccommend it?"

I don’t really understand the hype in this one. I’ve heard that a lot of people were scared by it. It was a good read but I can’t agree that it’s “too creepy.” <— personal taste, maybe? Besides the cool rabbit masks (which is pro’ly the eye candy of this series), it wasn’t really anything special story-wise. But maybe it’s because I’ve read the best survival horror manga and that is Battle Royale.

morkwalls told me, "What do you think of supposedly real-life based investigations regarding supernatural entities, ie, Ghost Adventures or Paranormal Investigation? Could you recommend good ones ( that don't feel faked? ) if you do? Single episodes or short videos are fine too. Thanks ; D"

I find them really interesting to watch! Here are a few recs (WARNING: Don’t watch them at night!):

goddamntranny told me, "Have you read Bloody Maiden? I tried reading it, but only got a few chapters in. The pacing was really slow, but should I give it another chance?"

I wouldn’t really recommend it but I still read cause it was so short (3 volumes). It’s like another HOTD filled with boobs and pantyshot which is the one thing that bothered me in this manga. There’s nothing really special here—it’s just the same old stuff most of the new artists are into nowadays. Only read it if you’re bored or if you’re into horror-ecchi manga.

theoriginalpantslesswonder told me, "I really like the huge amount of manhua as of late! It looks insanely creepy, and I was wondering if you might have any suggestions for me?"

Thank you! Although I’m not really that sure if all of them are manhua. I tagged them as “manhuacaps” cause I found these scans on a Chinese search engine. If ever I get more details, I will re-tag them again. It’s just that the caps are too good not to post!

And sadly, I think there are only a few manhua series that are scanlated online. I can only recommend three good ones:

  • Collapse of the World as We Know It (Still ongoing)
  • Doctor Du Ming (Completed!)
  • Yin Yang Road (Only 2 chapters… I think it’s dropped?)
