And speaking of manga I love, if you’ve never read it before I urge you to check out Masaaki Nakayama’s ‘Fuan no Tane’ (and its sequel, Fuan no Tane Plus). The title translates to ‘Seeds of Anxiety’ and deals with irrational fears, ghosts and superstitions. Each of the stories within are pretty short and to the point, using powerfully creepy images for most of the impact. Something about the art style is truly unnerving and I still get chills looking at the empty, dead eyes of some of the monstrosities it has to offer.
